With early detection and treatment of these diseases, vision loss can be prevented, and the development of certain eye diseases will be decelerated. Patients with diabetes should also be aware that there are eye conditions exclusive to that disease, such as diabetic retinopathy and diabetic macular edema.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Canadian Association of Optometrists, adults age 65 and older should visit their eye doctor every  18 months. However, your optometrist may suggest you have your eyes tested more often if you have or are at risk for vision problems and eye diseases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In PSN, we test your vision and scrutinize the overall health of your eye \u2013 the cornea, lens, retina, optic nerve, and macula.
